About Sarah Rees
My work is shaped by years of supporting children and families, academic study into psychology and criminology, and a deep respect for what it means to feel heard.
Before training as a hypnotherapist, I spent many years working in childcare and supporting families. Those experiences gave me a deep understanding of human development, emotional wellbeing, and the importance of feeling heard and understood.
Alongside my professional experience, I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Criminology, with a specialist focus on religious and political harms relating to gender identity. This area of study deepened my interest in the lasting impact that belief systems, social pressures and trauma can have on an individual's sense of self and wellbeing.
I am currently a DCH student, an NBFH student with the National Board for Hypnotherapy and an NBMP student with the National Board Modern Psychotherapy. I am building Guiding Therapy with care, integrity and a commitment to professional, ethical practice.
I am particularly passionate about working with people who are navigating life after organised religion or high-control groups, those who have experienced religious trauma, and individuals living with trauma-related symptoms or PTSD.
I aim to provide a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences, rebuild confidence and reconnect with who you are beyond the expectations placed upon you.
I also believe strongly in the healing power of nature, movement and connection. For some people, sitting face-to-face in a therapy room can feel uncomfortable or intense. This is why I can offer walking sessions, providing an alternative approach that allows you to talk and reflect while moving through natural surroundings.
Whether psychotherapy takes place in the therapy room, online or out in nature, my goal is always the same: to help you feel heard, empowered and equipped to create positive and lasting change in your life.
